Eni’s subsidiary, Nigerian Agip Exploration Limited (NAE), has awarded postgraduate scholarships to 30 Nigerian graduates for the 2025/2026 academic year under its Scholarship Awards Scheme, implemented on behalf of NNPC Limited and the NAE Production Sharing Contract (PSC).

According to a statement by NAE’s spokesperson, Folu Olapade, 10 of the beneficiaries will pursue postgraduate studies in various universities across the globe, while the remaining 20 will study in Nigerian universities in fields including Engineering, Geosciences, Petroleum and Environmental Technology, Energy Economics, Renewable Energy, and Energy Transition.

Speaking at the award ceremony in Abuja, the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of NAE, Fabrizio Bolondi, congratulated the recipients and described the initiative as part of the company’s long-term commitment to education and human capital development in Nigeria.

“The award ceremony highlights our continuous commitment to the future of education, innovation, and capacity building in Nigeria,” Bolondi stated.

He urged the scholars to take full advantage of the opportunity to acquire valuable skills that would contribute to national development, especially within the energy sector.

Also present at the event were the Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), represented by the Manager of External Relations, Edith Bunmi-Lawson, and the Deputy Manager, PSC Asset A3, Paul Duke.

Instituted in 2007, the NNPC-NAE PSC Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme aims to promote knowledge acquisition and bridge the skills gap in specialised fields critical to deep offshore oil and gas operations in Nigeria.

According to the statement, 350 graduates have so far benefited from the scheme, which contributes to the training of local professionals with the knowledge and expertise required in the industry.

Beyond the scholarship programme, Eni through NAE has also executed numerous sustainability projects in Nigeria in areas such as health, education, water access, infrastructure development, and local community empowerment.

NAE, incorporated in 1996, manages Eni’s deep offshore exploration and production assets, holding interests in six deep offshore blocks either as operator or co-venturer. Eni also operates in Nigeria through Agip Energy and Natural Resources (AENR), with a 5% participating interest in the Renaissance Joint Venture, a 12.5% stake in OML 135 and 118 (Bonga field) through NAE, and a 10.4% equity stake in Nigeria LNG.
