The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, is leading a senior Nigerian delegation to the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (GPSCF) taking place in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China.
The three-day conference, which runs from September 16 to 18, brings together security ministers, police chiefs, and law enforcement leaders from across the world to deliberate on coordinated responses to transnational crime.
Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development in a statement released in Abuja on Monday.
According to him, Egbetokun is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on September 18 under the theme, “Combating Transnational Crime and Countermeasures.”
“His presentation will spotlight Nigeria’s ongoing counter-crime initiatives, innovative policing reforms, and collaborative efforts with international partners in disrupting cross-border criminal networks and safeguarding communities,” Hundeyin stated.
Hundeyin added that, ahead of the forum, the IGP was billed to hold a bilateral meeting on September 15 with China’s Deputy Minister of Public Security, Qi Yanjun, to explore enhanced security cooperation, intelligence sharing, and capacity building between the two countries.
He emphasised that the Nigerian delegation would leverage the forum to deepen ties with partners, attract capacity-building support, and showcase reforms aimed at protecting communities and securing borders.
According to the organisers, this year’s GPSCF will feature plenary sessions and several sub-forums focusing on areas such as tourism and border security, cybercrime, and counterterrorism.
Nigeria is expected to join other international delegations and multilateral organisations at the forum to exchange best practices, training opportunities, and technical assistance.
