The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has distanced itself from the actions of a former employee, Olakunle Alex Folarin, who was recently seen participating in a matchmaking programme hosted on social media platforms by entertainer Lege Miami.
In a statement issued on its official X handle on Monday, the Commission said Folarin was formerly a driver at its Ibadan Zonal Directorate but was dismissed after investigations confirmed he forged his academic credentials.
“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, condemned in the strongest terms, the involvement of one of its former staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin, in a matchmaking programme running on Lege Miami social media platforms,” the statement read.
EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered Folarin’s immediate arrest for unlawfully retaining some of the Commission’s property, including his official identity card, which he failed to surrender after dismissal.
The Commission further emphasised that Folarin’s conduct should not in any way be linked to the EFCC.
“The public is advised against associating Folarin’s post-dismissal conduct with the EFCC,” the statement concluded.
