Hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg has stirred debate after voicing unease about LGBTQ+ representation in Disney’s animated film “Lightyear”.
Speaking on the “It’s Giving” podcast hosted by Sarah Fontenot on Thursday, the rapper recounted an awkward moment while watching the movie with his grandson.
According to Snoop, the child was puzzled when a scene showed two women raising a child together.
“Papa Snoop, how can she have a baby with another woman?” his grandson asked.
The rapper admitted he felt unprepared to handle the situation.
“I didn’t come here for this; I just came to watch the movie,” he said. “I’m worried about taking kids to the movies now, because they’re putting me in situations I don’t know how to explain.”
Snoop’s remarks, which highlight the difficulty of discussing sensitive topics with children, have reignited conversations around LGBTQ+ themes in children’s entertainment.
While many commend Disney for promoting inclusivity, others — like Snoop — question whether such portrayals are age-appropriate.
The “It’s Giving”podcast, known for tackling culture, relationships, and personal perspectives, provided the platform for Snoop’s candid reflections on how modern media intersects with parenting challenges.
