The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has inaugurated a new board for the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), raising hopes for a decisive turnaround in tackling the state’s waste disposal challenges.
Speaking at the ceremony in Port Harcourt on Friday evening, Ibas charged the board members to adopt a disciplined and holistic approach to sanitation. He cautioned that poor waste management exposes residents to serious health hazards.
“The public must understand the dangers of poor sanitation,” he warned, urging the new team to restore environmental cleanliness across the state.
In addition to RIWAMA, chairmen and members of six other agencies were also inaugurated during the event.
