Nigeria has been hit by a spate of violent crimes in recent days, heightening public concern over the country’s worsening insecurity.

In Lagos, closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage captured the moment a man identified as Gbenga Obama was robbed of his gold jewellery in broad daylight along Fadeyi Aladura Street, Ikeja.

The video shows the assailants dispossessing him before fleeing, raising fresh fears among residents about rising cases of street robberies despite ongoing security patrols.

In a separate incident, Nigerian singer Keshinro Ololade, popularly known as Lil Kesh, was reportedly stabbed during a robbery attack in Lagos on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old artiste also lost jewellery worth millions of naira to the attackers.

According to Hip TV, the music star was stabbed in the neck while being dispossessed of his valuables.

The incident has since triggered an outpouring of concern online, with fans flooding social media platforms with prayers and messages of support.

As of press time, neither Lil Kesh nor the Lagos State Police Command had issued an official statement on the matter.

Lil Kesh rose to prominence in 2014 with his breakout hit Shoki and has remained a notable figure in Nigeria’s street-hop music scene, collaborating with artistes such as Olamide, Davido, and Wizkid.

Meanwhile, in Enugu, tragedy struck as popular Nollywood filmmaker and producer Victor Tobechukwu Okoli, widely known as Vic Matt, was kidnapped and killed. Okoli was abducted on Friday night at the popular Ntachi Osa area in New Haven, Enugu.

His lifeless body was later discovered by the roadside, sending shockwaves through the Nollywood community and beyond.

The string of violent incidents has renewed calls for urgent and effective security interventions to curb kidnappings, robberies, and attacks that continue to claim victims across the country from everyday citizens to high-profile figures.
