Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has officially presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag to the party’s candidate for the forthcoming Garki/Babura Federal Constituency by-election, Hon. Rabiu Muktar.
The event, held on Monday in Babura town, came just five days ahead of the August 16, 2025 poll scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The presentation ceremony drew top government officials, party chieftains from the two local government areas, and representatives from 25 other LGAs across the state.
In his remarks, Governor Namadi commended APC leaders and members from both Garki and Babura for the maturity and unity displayed during the candidate selection process.
“The unity displayed by the party members is a model of internal democracy and responsible leadership,” Namadi said, praying for the party’s success at the polls and divine guidance for Muktar if elected.
He also praised the sportsmanship of other aspirants, acknowledging their acceptance of the consensus arrangement, and lauded party leaders for ensuring a smooth and peaceful process.
“True leadership lies in consistently praying for the best outcome for the people,” the governor added.
In his acceptance speech, Muktar expressed appreciation to the governor and stakeholders for what he described as a transparent and inclusive process that led to his emergence.
“This is a collective mandate, and I promise to carry everyone along in this journey,” Muktar said, pledging to work closely with all party members to secure a decisive APC victory.
Earlier, the state APC chairman, Aminu Gumel, formally introduced Muktar to the governor, who then presented him with the party flag.
The by-election follows the death of the constituency’s former representative, Hon. Isa Dogonyaro, in May 2024.
