Barcelona forwards Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski have been fined by UEFA for breaching post-match anti-doping procedures following their Champions League semi-final defeat to Inter Milan.
In a statement on Friday, the European football body’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body announced that both players “failed to report immediately to the doping control station at the San Siro,” as required by competition rules. Each was handed a €5,000 penalty for the infraction.
According to Spanish outlets Marca and AS, the breach was purely procedural and “did not involve failing a drug test.” The incident occurred after Barcelona’s 3–0 loss in Milan, a result that confirmed their elimination from the tournament.
UEFA also imposed sanctions on head coach Hansi Flick and his assistant Marcus Sorg, issuing €20,000 fines and one-match suspensions apiece for “misconduct and breach of the body’s general principles of conduct.”
The governing body said both men “acted improperly during and after the match.”
Barcelona, as a club, was fined a total of €7,750 — €5,250 for objects thrown onto the pitch and €2,500 for fireworks ignited by supporters during the semi-final clash.
UEFA confirmed that all suspensions will take immediate effect, with matches to be served in the club’s next European fixture.
