A fatal road crash along the Lambatta-Lapai road in Niger State has claimed the lives of twenty-two individuals, with twenty others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred around 3:40 a.m. and involved a lorry transporting passengers and goods from Kano to Lagos. The driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle due to fatigue and the poor condition of the road, leading to the tragic crash.
Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Niger State, Aisha Saadu, confirmed the incident. She advised transport companies and drivers to avoid night travel and emphasized the importance of ensuring vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on long-distance journeys.
“Drivers must desist from night travels and ensure their vehicles are in good condition before plying the roads,” she warned.
