Turkish football powerhouse Galatasaray are intensifying efforts to sign Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson, following their headline-making acquisition of Victor Osimhen from Napoli.
The Istanbul club recently broke their transfer record to secure Osimhen, and now they are reportedly in advanced talks to lure Ederson to the Turkish Süper Lig.
The Brazilian shot-stopper has allegedly communicated his desire to join Galatasaray, turning down more lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia in favor of the move.
According to Turkish football analyst Levent Tüzemen, Galatasaray are actively negotiating with Manchester City, and Ederson is said to be keen on reuniting with his former Serie A rival, Osimhen, at the Turkish champions.
Manchester City have already made preparations for Ederson’s potential exit by signing 21-year-old goalkeeper James Trafford from Burnley.
Trafford is expected to compete for the number one jersey in the event Ederson departs.
At 31, Ederson has spent seven successful seasons at the Etihad, winning multiple Premier League titles, domestic cups, and the UEFA Champions League.
However, speculation surrounding his future has grown over the past two seasons, and with Galatasaray pushing hard, a move this summer looks increasingly possible.
Sources close to the negotiations suggest there’s now a “more than even” chance of the deal going through, with a 51 per cent likelihood that Ederson will become Galatasaray’s next marquee signing.
