The Yobe State Government has debunked claims suggesting that Governor Mai Mala Buni is planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In an exclusive interview with PUNCH Online on Wednesday in Damaturu, the state capital, Mamman Mohammed, Director General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, dismissed the reports as completely false and without basis.
“It’s a wild dream of the author. Someone had earlier speculated this and it was debunked. It’s an empty speculation,” Mohammed stated.
He emphasized that Governor Buni remains a committed member of the APC and has no intention of leaving the ruling party.
“The report is baseless and unfounded. Governor Buni is a two-term governor under the APC platform and would be the last person to consider leaving the party,” he added.
Mohammed cautioned political speculators against spreading misinformation, especially regarding loyal party members like Governor Buni.
“People should be mindful of their claims, particularly when it concerns credible and loyal party members,” he warned.
The statement comes in response to recent online reports suggesting a potential defection, which the Yobe government insists should not be taken seriously.
