Niger North Senator, Distinguished Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, has officially flagged off the distribution of two trucks of NPK fertilizer to farmers across the eight Local Government Areas within Niger North Senatorial District for the 2024 farming season.

The flag-off ceremony took place at the Palace of the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammad Bara’u Mu’azu II. The event was presided over by the Chairman of Kontagora Local Government, Hon. Shehu S. Pawa, with notable attendees including the Chairman of Mashegu Local Government, Hon. Alhassan Isah Mazakuka, representatives of the six other Local Government Council Chairmen, legislative aide to the Senator, Comrade Mohammad Sani Yahya, and other key stakeholders.

To ensure the equitable distribution of fertilizers, a committee has been established in each of the eight local government areas. The committee includes the Local Government Council Chairman, the APC LGA Party Chairmen, Local Stakeholders, the Focal Persons of each of the LGAs from the Office of the Senator, and religious leaders.Speaking on behalf of Senator Sani Bello, Hon. Shehu S. Pawa remarked, “His Excellency, the Senator representing our Senatorial District, has always maintained that any donation or palliative measure will be routed through traditional institutions. He ensures that the Royal Fathers are informed before meeting the people. Your Royal Highness, as you are aware, this distribution of fertilizers is coming from Senator Sani Bello to be shared among the six Local Government Areas under your Emirate Council, with your blessings. Although it may not be possible to reach everyone, it is crucial that the most deserving among the people receive it, no matter how small. The Senator has entrusted us, the Council Chairmen, to ensure fairness in this process.”

In his remarks, the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora, HRH Alhaji Muhammad Bara’u Mu’azu II, stated, “Senator Abubakar Sani Bello contacted me to express his desire to flag off the distribution of NPK fertilizer because he is committed to ensuring that it reaches the most deserving among the people. He is confident that when the fertilizer arrives at my palace, it will indeed reach those intended. We continue to urge that whatever is provided for the people should reach them, and we are certain it will.”

The Emir also took the opportunity to express gratitude to Senator Sani Bello, saying, “I would like to thank Distinguished Senator Abubakar Sani Bello for fulfilling a request we made for the donation of foodstuffs to be distributed to those who regularly seek assistance from us. Despite the challenging times, we are grateful to him for honoring this request. Although he mentioned that even if it will not be feasible to make it a monthly initiative, he has promised to try and do it every two months or quarterly.” The Emir Concluded.

Senator Abubakar Sani Bello has consistently demonstrated his dedication to the welfare and well-being of his constituents, ensuring that he is present and responsive to their needs. Recognizing that farming is the primary livelihood of his people, the Senator remains committed to providing the necessary support to this vital sector.
