The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially approved new minimum cut-off marks for admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, the board announced that the minimum score required for admission into Nigerian universities is now set at 150.
In addition to this, the new admission benchmark for colleges of nursing sciences is 140, while both polytechnics and colleges of education will maintain a cut-off mark of 100.
JAMB stated that the decision was reached in collaboration with heads of tertiary institutions across the country, following deliberations on national admission standards.
These cut-off marks serve as the minimum scores candidates must attain in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be considered for admission, although individual institutions may set higher requirements based on their internal criteria.
Further updates are expected to follow regarding the full guidelines for the upcoming admission cycle.
