AC Milan is making strategic moves to bolster its frontline by targeting Nigerian forward Victor Boniface, aiming to pair him with compatriot Samuel Chukwueze in what could become a formidable all-Nigerian attack at the San Siro.

Reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport indicate that the Rossoneri have identified Boniface as a top candidate for their striking role ahead of the 2025–2026 season. Preliminary talks have already been initiated with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen regarding the 24-year-old striker.

Boniface played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s title-winning 2023–24 campaign, scoring 14 league goals. However, injuries restricted him to just 19 league appearances last season, though he still managed to find the net eight times.

With fellow striker Patrik Schick reclaiming prominence in Leverkusen’s lineup, Boniface’s potential transfer fee has reportedly dropped to around €30 million — significantly lower than his previous valuation of over €50 million.

This price reduction, combined with more modest wage expectations compared to other Milan targets like Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, makes Boniface a more attractive and financially sustainable option for the Serie A giants.

The proposed signing has sparked excitement among Nigerian football fans, who are eager to see Boniface reunite with Chukwueze, a teammate from the Super Eagles national team. Chukwueze joined AC Milan from Villarreal in July 2023 and has already become a familiar presence in the squad.

Notably, club captain Rafael Leão reportedly sought Chukwueze’s insight on Boniface’s abilities during their UEFA Champions League preparations last season — a sign of the striker’s growing reputation in European football.

While there have been questions over Chukwueze’s long-term future at the club, the arrival of a fellow Nigerian could provide fresh motivation and chemistry in attack.

If negotiations are successful, AC Milan could soon boast two of Nigeria’s brightest attacking prospects working in tandem, a prospect that promises excitement for both fans of the club and followers of Nigerian football.
