The Super Falcons of Nigeria will kick off their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign with a Group A clash against Tunisia on Sunday, July 6.

The match is scheduled to take place at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, Morocco, with kickoff set for 5:00 p.m. Nigeria time. Fans can catch the action live on AfroSport and SuperSport via DSTV.

Nigeria, nine-time WAFCON champions, are aiming to secure a record-extending 10th title in this year’s tournament. With their last triumph dating back to 2018, the team arrives in Morocco in high spirits, buoyed by a strong run of form in recent international fixtures.

The Super Falcons recently secured a 3-1 victory over Ghana’s Black Queens and held Portugal to a goalless draw in Lisbon—results that underscore their readiness under head coach Justine Madugu.

A fast start is critical for Nigeria, especially considering their struggles in opening games at the last two WAFCON tournaments, where they suffered early setbacks.

Their opponents, Tunisia—nicknamed Les Aigles de Carthage—are ranked 89th in the world and enter the competition as underdogs. However, they have shown signs of progress despite recent friendly losses to Kenya (1-0) and Morocco (4-2). Tunisia will be eager to make a statement in a group that also includes Algeria and Botswana.

As the tournament gets underway, all eyes will be on Nigeria to deliver a performance worthy of their title ambitions.
