PSC Approves Mass Promotions in Police Force

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has authorized the promotion of 31 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs).

This decision was one of the key outcomes of the PSC’s plenary meeting held on Friday, August 30th, 2024.

In a statement released by the Commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, it was revealed that the plenary session will resume on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024, with discussions focusing on police discipline, investigation, recruitment, and other staff-related matters.

Among those promoted to DCP are notable officers such as Godspower Origho, Area Commander, Kabba, Kogi State Command; Abubakar Argungu Ibrahim, Coordinator BPU, Sokoto State Command; Kabiru Ibrahim, Department of Operations, Cross Rivers State Command; and Ochiabutor Ejike, Department of Operations, Enugu State Command.

Others include John Amaechi Ngwoye from Ondo State Command, and Suleiman Salihu from Bauchi State Command, among others.

Additionally, 52 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) were elevated to the rank of ACPs.

The newly promoted ACPs include Offiong Effanga Effiong, Simeon Vitalis Timbomna, and Edward Etim Akaniyere, all of whom serve in the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NCCC).

In a further boost to the force, 505 Superintendents of Police (SPs) were promoted to Chief Superintendents (CSPs)

Other Officers who benefited from this promotion include Raphael Iwamittigha Irowainu, Abraham Ogedegbe, and Stanley Chinenye Onyekwele, among others.

The Commission also elevated 84 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to the rank of SPs, including officers such as Cynthia Uchechi Nzota and Harry Achi.

PSC Chairman, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, congratulated the newly promoted officers, emphasizing the Commission’s commitment to building a police force that upholds the highest standards of professionalism and patriotism.

He urged the promoted officers to continue serving the nation with dedication and integrity.
