Nottingham Forest head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo, has extended his stay at the club with a new contract running until 2028, following a landmark campaign that marked the club’s highest league finish in three decades.
The Portuguese manager, appointed in December 2023 when Forest were teetering just above the relegation zone in 17th place, led a dramatic turnaround that culminated in a seventh-place finish in the Premier League.
This achievement not only secured European qualification for the first time since the 1995/96 season but also brought renewed hope and ambition to the City Ground.
Under Nuno’s leadership, Forest produced a series of memorable performances during the 2024/25 season, including a historic win at Anfield—becoming the only team to defeat champions Liverpool on their home turf.
His efforts were recognised with three Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month awards, the most received by any manager throughout the season.
The 51-year-old has been credited with fostering a strong unity among players, fans, and the club’s leadership, a factor many believe played a key role in Forest’s resurgence.
He also expressed gratitude to club owner Evangelos Marinakis for his continued support and backing, which he described as pivotal to the team’s success.
With his long-term future now secured, Nuno will lead Forest into a new campaign that begins with a home clash against Brentford on Saturday, 16 August. Just days later, the club will kick off their UEFA Conference League journey with a two-legged playoff tie, with the return leg scheduled for Thursday, 28 August.
The new deal signals Forest’s intent to build on their recent achievements and solidify their status as a force in both domestic and European competitions.
