The Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the recent reshuffling of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) board.

The association described the new appointments as a bold and strategic move to reposition the oil and gas industry for enhanced efficiency, transparency, and profitability.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by NAPE President, Johnbosco Uche, the association expressed its approval of the appointment of Bayo Ojulari as the new Group CEO and Ahmadu Musa Kida as the Non-Executive Chairman.

NAPE described the appointments as a clear demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to excellence and his vision for stimulating growth within the sector.

This follows the removal of Pius Akinyelure as NNPC Chairman and Mele Kyari as the Group CEO, as reported by PUNCH Online.

“The Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists extends its heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing a new Board and Management Team for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited,” the statement read.

“We are particularly pleased with the selection of experienced professionals, such as Austin Avuru, a former NAPE President with a distinguished track record in the oil and gas industry,” the statement added.

NAPE further emphasized that the new board’s mandate to improve operational efficiency, restore investor confidence, and enhance commercial viability aligns perfectly with the association’s own objectives for the industry.

The group expressed confidence that the new leadership would bring the expertise and insight necessary to propel the sector forward.

The association also commended President Tinubu for ensuring the new board reflects Nigeria’s diverse geopolitical zones, fostering inclusivity and balanced representation.

“NAPE once again congratulates President Tinubu for this commendable achievement and reaffirms its support for the new NNPC Board and Management Team.

We look forward to collaborating with them to drive the desired growth and transformation of the oil and gas sector.” the statement concluded.
