Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, took significant steps to bolster security at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex in Awka, with the installation of surveillance cameras, solar-powered lighting, and additional protective measures.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the state Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, explained that these security enhancements are part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to reinforce security at critical government facilities.

The newly introduced measures include the installation of 40 CCTV cameras for real-time monitoring of the secretariat, as well as two hybrid solar-powered control rooms to ensure continuous surveillance.

Solar-powered lighting has also been added to improve visibility at night and deter criminal activities.

Mefor further highlighted that perimeter security has been strengthened with the addition of barbed wire to prevent unauthorized access, while iron protectors have been installed on doors and windows to reduce illegal entry risks.

Additionally, exposed drainage areas, which had previously been used as unauthorized entry points, have been covered as part of enhanced access control measures.

To streamline security operations, the management of the secretariat’s security team has been restructured, and the access road leading to the complex has been rehabilitated to improve movement within the area.

“These interventions demonstrate the governor’s proactive stance in addressing security challenges at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat and ensuring a safe working environment for government personnel,” Mefor stated.

This initiative aligns with Governor Soludo’s broader commitment to strengthening security infrastructure across Anambra State.
