Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, asserting that they are yielding the desired results.
He highlighted the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of exchange rates as pivotal steps for Nigeria’s long-term development, despite the initial economic difficulties.
Speaking at interactive meetings with leaders and stakeholders in Warri South-West, Isoko South, and Isoko North local government areas of Delta State, Omo-Agege—who was the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2023 election—praised President Tinubu’s dedication to economic transformation.
He described the President’s reforms as bold and necessary, stating that they are positioning Nigeria for future prosperity. According to him, the initial hardships caused by these policies are now giving way to economic benefits, including increased revenue allocations and investment opportunities that could drive development in Delta State.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done exceptionally well. When you critically assess his administration’s policies and actions, you will see the significant progress made,” Omo-Agege said.
He pointed to the substantial increase in federal allocations to states, particularly Delta, where he claimed the FAAC allocation has tripled under Tinubu’s administration.
“Delta State has received over N1 trillion in revenue allocation—a threefold increase from what the previous administration got,” he stated.
He further revealed that local governments such as Warri South-West, Isoko South, and Isoko North now receive more funding than ever before.
“If people knew the exact amount allocated to this area, they would be astonished,” he added.
However, Omo-Agege expressed concerns that the increased funds have not translated into visible development in Delta State. He called for accountability from Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, questioning the management of the allocations.
“If the state has received over N1 trillion, where has the money gone?” he asked. “As I move through Warri South-West, Isoko South, and Isoko North, I struggle to find key development projects reflecting these funds. Unfortunately, many Deltans are unaware that Tinubu’s administration has allocated such enormous sums to the state.”
The senator urged Deltans to demand transparency and accountability from their leaders, stressing the importance of good governance. He called on citizens to support the APC in the 2027 elections to ensure responsible leadership.
“This money belongs to all of us, not just the government. We must stand up, ask questions, and work together to restore good governance in Delta,” he said.
