Kenyan runner Harrison Muchira Wanjiru delivered a stellar performance at the 3rd ECOWAS-Abuja International Marathon, clinching victory in the 21km race on Saturday morning in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Wanjiru dominated the highly competitive field, securing the $10,000 cash prize with his outstanding display of endurance and speed. His triumph further cements his reputation as one of Africa’s elite long-distance runners on the global stage.

The marathon attracted participants from across Africa and beyond, highlighting the region’s rich talent in distance running.

In the 5km race, Nigerian athletes showcased their prowess, with Sunday Dagyan and Vivian Obadiah, both from Plateau State, winning the men’s and women’s categories, respectively. Each received a $1,000 cash prize in recognition of their remarkable speed and resilience.
