The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, has urged Nigerian Muslims to dedicate the holy month of Ramadan to prayers for peace, unity, and national development.
Issa-Onilu made the appeal in a statement released on Saturday by the agency’s Deputy Director of Media and Communication, Paul Odenyi.
He emphasized the importance of Ramadan as a time for spiritual reflection, increased devotion, and acts of charity in line with Islamic teachings.
In his 2025 Ramadan message to the nation, Issa-Onilu stressed the need for collective prayers, stating, “For the development of the country, all citizens must pray for peace and unity irrespective of one’s religious and political affiliation. All Muslims should renew their commitment to Allah and embrace the spiritual opportunities that Ramadan signifies.”
Describing the period as sacred for self-renewal and societal progress, he reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to national development. “This, no doubt, is a sacred period of reflection for self-renewal and the way to move humanity forward. As an agency, we will continue to work for the greatness of our country,” he added.
The NOA DG also urged citizens to use the Ramadan period to pray for the success of the present administration and the overall progress of the nation.
