Troops conducting internal security operations nationwide, eliminated 217 terrorists and apprehended 574 criminals in February, according to a statement from the Defence Media Operations.
Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, the spokesperson for the Defence Media Operations, disclosed the figures in a statement released on Friday.
He noted that during the same period, troops rescued 320 kidnap victims, while 152 terrorists and their family members surrendered to the military.
Additionally, the troops arrested 122 suspected oil thieves and confiscated stolen petroleum products worth a staggering N2,199,914,942.
In terms of arms recovery, Kangye reported the retrieval of 296 high-caliber weapons and 7,245 rounds of ammunition.
The recovered weapons included 159 AK-47 rifles, 54 locally fabricated guns, 36 dane guns, 19 pump action guns, 4,836 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 1,506 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammo, 235 cartridges, as well as 28 assorted arms and 668 various ammunition.
In the ongoing battle against oil theft, the troops successfully recovered 1,790,934 litres of stolen crude oil, 402,936 litres of illegally refined diesel, and 600 litres of kerosene.
