The Lagos High Court, sitting in Ikeja, ruled that all members of the Lagos House of Assembly must be included as parties in the lawsuit filed by Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.

Justice Yetunde Pinheiro has adjourned the case until March 7, 2025, to hear all pending applications related to the matter.

Hon. Obasa filed the suit after his removal from the position of Speaker by at least 36 of his colleagues on January 13, 2025, while he was out of the country.

In the application, dated February 12, 2025, and filed by his legal counsel, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Chief Afolabi Fashanu, Obasa argued that his removal was orchestrated by the 36 lawmakers in his absence.

The case sees prominent legal figures representing various parties: Senior Advocate of Nigeria Mr. Tayo Oyetibo, alongside Senior Advocate of Nigeria Bimbo Akeredolu and other lawyers, are representing Hon. Mojisola Meranda.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria Mr. Femi Falana is leading the legal team representing the 36 lawmakers, with Senior Advocates Olu Daramola and Dada Awosika representing other parties seeking to be joined in the suit.
