The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers and recovered several incriminating items after a distress report from a victim.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, the breakthrough came after a victim, Jameson Godwill, 25, of Ado Village, Nasarawa State, reported spotting one of his alleged kidnappers at Mararaba Junction.

“On February 13, 2025, at about 2:30 PM, Jameson Godwill raised an alarm after identifying one Musa Babagana, a member of the gang that kidnapped him and his younger brother on January 25, 2025,” Nansel stated.

The incident occurred when the victims were traveling in a suspected commercial vehicle from Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, to CBN Junction, Abuja. The kidnappers reportedly robbed the siblings of two mobile phones—an iPhone 12 and an iPhone 11 Pro—along with ₦63,000 cash, and later gave them ₦1,000 for transportation back to Mararaba.

Following Godwill’s report, police operatives immediately responded, leading to the arrest of Babagana and two other suspects, Iliyasu Baba and Ibrahim Mohammad. However, a fourth suspect, identified only as Haruna, escaped.

During interrogation, Babagana and Mohammad confessed to being part of a kidnapping syndicate operating in Abuja and its environs, including areas like Dutse Alhaji, Kubwa, Gwarimpa, Mandala, and Suleja in Niger State. They admitted to detaining victims and demanding ransom from their relatives.

Exhibits Recovered:

One Toyota Corolla with registration number FK186 EKO

Two military camouflage uniforms

One military desert camouflage uniform

One black paramilitary uniform

A military identification card

One paramilitary cap

Four SIM cards from different network providers

Two jackknives

A pair of handcuffs

One black boot and a desert boot

The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended the officers for their swift response and professionalism. He directed the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation and prosecution.

“The Nasarawa State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents,” Nansel added.
