The National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Saturday held a closed-door meeting with former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, at the latter’s residence in Lagos.
While the details of their discussions remain undisclosed, sources within the Osun State chapter of the NNPP, who spoke on condition of anonymity, hinted that the talks centered on national politics.
The meeting comes amid heightened political speculation following the recent exit of Omoluabi Progressives, a political group backed by Aregbesola, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun. The group cited alleged victimization by the party’s mainstream leadership as a key reason for its departure, fueling questions about Aregbesola’s next political move.
Confirming the meeting, Osun NNPP Chairman, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, shared pictures of Kwankwaso and Aregbesola after their discussions.
“The meeting took place at Aregbesola’s residence in Lagos,” Odeyemi stated. “It reflected a shared commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and fostering national development.”
He further emphasized the NNPP’s growing influence, describing it as the “third force” in Nigeria’s political landscape. “The party leadership will leave no stone unturned in making Nigeria great again,” he added.
The development has sparked fresh discussions about potential political realignments, with observers closely watching Aregbesola’s next steps in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
