Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has reignited the long-standing debate over football’s greatest player, boldly declaring himself the best in history.

During a widely circulated interview in Saudi Arabia, the Al Nassr star confidently placed himself above all others, including his longtime rival, Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo: “I Am the Best Player in Football History”
Speaking with El Chiringuito TV journalist Edu Aguirre, Ronaldo made his stance clear, stating:
“I believe I am the best player ever in football history, no one was better.”

He further emphasized his dominance by citing his all-around abilities and achievements:

“The numbers say that. I’m the most complete football player that has ever existed. People may prefer Messi, Maradona, or Pelé, and I respect that, but I am the most complete— the numbers prove it.”

“I haven’t seen anyone better than me in football history, and I say this from my heart. I’m fast, I’m strong, I score with my head, my left foot—no one has ever been more complete than me. I’m the best player in history. I truly believe that.”

Ronaldo and Messi have dominated the football world for nearly two decades, winning a combined 13 Ballon d’Or awards—Messi with 8 and Ronaldo with 5. Their rivalry reached its peak between 2009 and 2018, when Messi starred for Barcelona while Ronaldo led Real Madrid.

Mixed Reactions from Fans

Ronaldo’s bold declaration has sparked heated debates online, with many fans criticizing his comments, especially in comparison to Messi, who is widely regarded as his closest competitor for the title of football’s greatest.

Despite the controversy, Ronaldo remains steadfast in his belief, backing his claim with an illustrious career that has seen him break multiple records and win numerous titles across Europe and now in Saudi Arabia.
