A Max Air aircraft carrying 53 passengers suffered a tyre burst while landing at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport late Tuesday night.
The aircraft, with registration number 5N-MBD, had departed from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, before experiencing the incident upon touchdown at 10:57 p.m.
A passenger aboard the flight confirmed to PUNCH Online that the tyre burst occurred as the aircraft landed.
Despite the incident, all passengers were safely evacuated without injuries. Reports indicate that the aircraft may have lost its nose landing gear tyre during landing, leading to the mishap.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been received from Max Air. Efforts to contact the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) also proved unsuccessful, as calls and messages to the agency’s spokesperson went unanswered.
