The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Katsina State Council, has raised alarm over unresolved security and welfare issues affecting its members.
The association has issued a warning to the state government, threatening to withdraw its members from frontline local government areas if their concerns are not addressed.
The affected areas include Batsari, Funtua, Malumfashi, Kankara, Kurfi, Danmusa, and Jibia, where nurses have reported heightened insecurity and inadequate welfare support.
As part of their demands, the association has announced a two-day warning strike, set to commence on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
If the government fails to act within the stipulated period, the association has vowed to embark on an indefinite strike.
The situation underscores ongoing challenges in ensuring the safety and welfare of healthcare workers in conflict-prone areas of Katsina State.
Further updates are awaited as the strike looms.
