US President Donald Trump is set to take action on Monday to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the Department of Defense, as part of a series of military-focused executive orders.
In addition to removing DEI programs, one of the executive orders will direct US officials to develop a policy regarding transgender troops. Another order will reinstate military personnel who were discharged for refusing the Covid-19 vaccine.
The removal of DEI initiatives from federal agencies was a central campaign promise for Trump, and he is moving quickly to implement this policy, following his inauguration last week.
