The Portland Trail Blazers secured a hard-fought 102-97 victory over the Charlotte Hornets, marking their fourth consecutive win in the NBA.
Anfernee Simons was instrumental in the Trail Blazers’ triumph, scoring 17 of his 27 points in the second half. Jerami Grant added 22 points, while Donovan Clingan and Deni Avdija contributed significantly with 13 rebounds and 18 points, respectively.
The Hornets, playing without key players LaMelo Ball, Miles Bridges, and Brandon Miller, relied on the efforts of fringe players Nick Smith Jr., who scored 17 points, and Josh Green, who added 15.
Despite the loss, Nigerian NBA star Josh Okogie delivered a standout performance for the Hornets. Coming off the bench, Okogie logged 31 minutes and recorded a double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists.
The Trail Blazers once again showcased their defensive prowess, managing to control the game despite it being the second night of a back-to-back.
Okogie and the Hornets will return to action on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in a back-to-back clash against the New Orleans Pelicans.
