In a series of coordinated operations aimed at restoring peace in the northwest, Nigerian Army troops under Operation Fansan Yanma have dealt a significant blow to terrorist groups operating in Sokoto and Kebbi States.

Over 20 terrorists were neutralized, and their hideouts dismantled, marking a major success in the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.

The operations targeted several Local Government Areas (LGAs), including Illela, Tangaza, Gudu, Binji, and Silami in Sokoto State, as well as Augie, Arewa, Argungu, and Dandi LGAs in Kebbi State.

The troops carried out clearance operations in key areas such as TSAUNA, BAUNI, and SARMA forests, flushing out terrorists and recovering logistical items.

One of the highlights of the operation occurred in SARMA RUGA, where intense engagements led to the killing of 20 terrorists.

Fleeing insurgents abandoned weapons, supplies, and their hideouts, all of which were subsequently destroyed by the troops.

The operation also saw the liberation of MANJA village, which had been deserted for four years due to persistent terrorist activity.

Following the successful clearance, locals have started returning to their homes, expressing relief and gratitude for the Army’s intervention.

Further advances led to the discovery of a newly established terrorist camp near MAI HILLS. Troops dismantled the camp and confiscated abandoned supplies.

Additionally, operations extended to border communities such as JAIMA village, where collaborative patrols with Nigerien forces were reported.

The troops continued their campaign by pushing into TAFKIN TARAMNA and TUMBULUMKUM villages, establishing ambush positions and patrols to monitor and sustain pressure on fleeing terrorist groups.

These efforts underscore the Army’s determination to restore security and ensure the safe return of displaced residents in the region.

The successful operations reflect the military’s ongoing commitment to eradicating terrorism and stabilizing affected communities across Nigeria’s northwest.
