The Kebbi State Police Command, successfully rescued 36 kidnap victims along the Mairairai/Bena road in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area on December 8, 2024.

In a statement issued by the police spokesman, Nafiu Abubakar, it was revealed that a large group of gunmen barricaded the road and abducted the victims, who were returning from their farms.

Upon receiving the distress report, a joint team of police officers, soldiers, and vigilantes swiftly mobilized to the scene.

The team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, overpowering them and forcing the criminals to flee into the forest, nursing gunshot wounds.

The 36 victims were rescued unharmed and have since been reunited with their families.

Kebbi State’s Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, praised the officers for their bravery, resilience, and professionalism.

He urged them to remain committed to ensuring that the state is not a safe haven for criminals.

He also called for enhanced collaboration among all security agencies in the region to effectively tackle the bandits and other criminal elements.
