The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended 14 suspected herders for breaching the Executive Order prohibiting transhumance movement across Adamawa State.
In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Command, DSC Nyako Amidu Baba, the operation was conducted by the NSCDC’s Hong Divisional Office in collaboration with other security agencies. The Executive Order, issued by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, seeks to curb farmer-herder conflicts and enhance public safety and security across the state.
Commandant ID Bande directed the immediate enforcement of the ban across all 21 local government areas, emphasizing its critical role in maintaining order.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that some of the arrested individuals are non-indigenes, underscoring the need to enforce the ban to prevent external disruptions. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be prosecuted upon completion,” the statement read.
Commandant Bande called on residents and stakeholders to support law enforcement agencies in implementing the directive. He also issued a stern warning to individuals or groups considering similar violations, stating that the law would be applied without leniency.
This development marks a significant step in the state’s efforts to promote harmony and secure its communities.
