Emmanuel France, a celebrated veteran of Nollywood, has died at the age of 83.
Filmmaker Olufemi Ogendengbe announced the actor’s passing on Instagram, reflecting on their shared work.
Ogendengbe reminisced about their collaboration, writing, “Rest in peace to one of Nollywood legends.
Uncle Emmanuel France, one of the actors I took to Tanzania in 2006.
We shot three movies together: Cross My Sin, She Is My Sister, and The Director. R.I.P.”
Born in Kano in 1941, France began his acting career in 1960.
He gained fame for his roles in Domitilla(1996) and The Curfew (2021), and appeared in over 200 films, including Sakobi and The Snake Girl.
Known for his portrayal of herbalists and his iconic catchphrase Tufancha from the classic Nollywood film Suicide Mission, France left a lasting impact on the industry.
The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
