President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) to distribute rice across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory in support of citizens observing the Ramadan and Lent seasons.
The directive was disclosed by the Governor of Imo State and Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Hope Uzodimma, in a statement issued at the weekend.
According to Uzodimma, the initiative is designed to promote national unity and demonstrate compassion during a period of deep spiritual reflection for both Muslims and Christians.
He explained that the distribution would be coordinated through the grassroots network of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to ensure that families across the country benefit from the intervention during the fasting season.
Uzodimma noted that the programme forms part of the administration’s broader efforts to support citizens during significant religious and cultural observances.
He recalled that a similar intervention was implemented during the Christmas period, when rice was distributed to support Nigerians celebrating the festive season.
The current nationwide distribution is expected to benefit both Christian and Muslim communities.
Uzodimma said the initiative underscores the President’s commitment to inclusivity, solidarity and shared national values.
“This initiative reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to unity and compassion. Ramadan and Lent are seasons that remind us of sacrifice, charity and care for one another,” he said.
“Through this distribution, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will ensure that families across Nigeria feel the spirit of togetherness during this sacred period.”
The rice distribution exercise will be carried out through the state, local government and ward structures of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to ensure broad reach and transparency across the country.
