President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday presided over the first national caucus meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) since assuming office, setting the stage for the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Wednesday.
The high-level gathering, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, brought together key party figures, including APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, APC governors, National Working Committee members, and other senior party leaders.
The meeting comes amid growing concerns from some party chieftains about internal democracy within the ruling party. Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and ex-National Vice Chairman Salihu Lukman had previously raised concerns over what they described as a lack of inclusivity in the APC’s decision-making process.
