Three people have been confirmed dead after a building collapsed in Kofar Bai Quarters, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The tragic incident, which occurred late on September 9, 2024, was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, DSP Lawan Adam, in a statement released on Tuesday.

“At approximately 00:05hrs on September 10, 2024, Ahmad Isah from Kofar Bai Quarters reported to the Birnin Kudu Police Division that a room in his residential house had collapsed the previous night at around 23:50hrs,” Adam said.

Following the report, a police rescue team, assisted by a local Good Samaritan, swiftly arrived at the scene and managed to evacuate seven individuals trapped under the debris.

The victims were rushed to the hospital, where three of them were pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

“The deceased were identified as Khalifa Ahmad, 13; Tijjani Ahmad, 12; and Rabiu Ahmad, 12, all from the same family,” Adam confirmed.
