The six South-West Governors, gathered at Lagos House, Ikeja, for an important meeting aimed at addressing key issues related to the region’s growth and development.
The meeting, hosted by Lagos State Governor and Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, includes Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Biodun Oyebaniji (Ekiti), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), and Ademola Adeleke (Osun).
The governors began arriving at Lagos House around 10:55 am, with Governor Makinde being the first to arrive.
They were warmly welcomed by Governor Sanwo-Olu, his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, and the Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde.
The closed-door meeting, which commenced at 12:15 pm after all governors had arrived, will focus on pressing regional issues, including agriculture, food security, economic collaboration, security, and the establishment of the South-West Development Commission.
This gathering follows a similar meeting held in Lagos on June 10, 2024, where Governor Sanwo-Olu was unanimously appointed Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum.
Since then, the forum, under his leadership, has prioritized policies aimed at advancing regional development across the South-West zone.
