Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with the Air Component, have killed nine Boko Haram terrorists, including two top commanders, during operations in Borno State.

A reliable military source told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the operations, conducted between August 21 and 22, disrupted planned terrorist attacks in Bita and Wulgo communities.

The source identified the slain commanders as Abu Nazir, Munzir of Juye, and Abu Fatima, Munzir of Koloram.

“They were neutralised during a fierce gun battle at the Wulgo axis,” the source said.

Recovered items from the operation include AK-47 rifles, a cache of ammunition, and six motorcycles used by the insurgents.

The military high command commended the troops for their success and urged them to sustain the momentum in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign despite persistent challenges.
