Several United States military aircraft crashed in Kuwait on Monday morning, but all crew members survived, Kuwait’s Defence Ministry has confirmed, amid escalating regional tensions following days of attacks in the Gulf.
“Several US warplanes crashed this morning. Confirming that all crew members survived,” a defence ministry spokesman said in a statement, adding that the cause of the crashes is under investigation. Authorities immediately launched search and rescue operations, evacuating the crews and transporting them to a hospital for medical evaluation and treatment, noting that their condition is stable.
The incident occurred as Iran continued its third day of strikes in the Gulf, part of a broader escalation in the Middle East. Black smoke was reported rising near the United States embassy in Kuwait City on Monday, although the embassy did not confirm it had been struck, urging people to avoid the area due to ongoing missile and drone threats.
Video footage circulating online reportedly showed at least one US jet falling from the sky in flames and a pilot parachuting to the ground, although details about the types of aircraft involved were not immediately disclosed.
The crashes form part of wider turmoil in the region, including explosions and air raid sirens in several Gulf cities, as hostilities continue between US-aligned forces and Iranian elements.
The military incident underscores growing risks to regional security as diplomatic missions, energy infrastructure and military assets face threats in an increasingly volatile environment.
