There was chaos in the Nigerian Senate on Thursday, February 20, when Senate President Godswill Akpabio directed the lawmaker representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, to leave the Red Chamber.

The dispute stemmed from a revised seating arrangement in the Upper Chamber. Akpoti-Uduaghan’s seat had been relocated, but she refused to comply with the adjustment approved by the Senate President.

Amid the disagreement, Senate Chief Whip Ali Monguno alerted Akpabio to what he described as the lawmaker’s “improper seating position.” After Monguno concluded a point of order on the matter, Akpoti-Uduaghan raised her voice in an attempt to be heard.

The situation escalated as the sergeant-at-arms moved in to escort her out of the plenary. A video seen by Politics Nigeria captured the lawmaker still raising her voice as security personnel surrounded her, urging her to remain calm.
