The Chairman Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and Senator Representing the good people of Niger North Senatorial District, Senator Abubakar Sani Bello has, on behalf of his constituents, expressed his heartfelt condolences to His Excellency Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno State, and the people of Borno, following the devastating flood that ravaged Maiduguri, the State Capital, and several other parts of the State.
In a message made available, Senator Sani Bello conveyed his deep sympathy and solidarity with the government and citizens of Borno State over the floods that have submerged large portions of Maiduguri and other parts of the State, tragically claiming lives, destroying residential areas and infrastructures, and displacing tens of thousands of residents. The disaster has inflicted significant damage on properties valued in billions of naira.
Reflecting on the situation, Senator Sani Bello stated:
“My deepest sympathies go out to the Governor of Borno State, His Excellency Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, and the entire people of Borno in this period of trial. I am profoundly saddened by this tragic event.
This is indeed a test from Allah, and I do not doubt that the people of Borno, known for their strength and resilience, will overcome this hardship and emerge even stronger.”
The Senator emphasised that such natural disasters underscore the importance of unity, compassion, and collective effort in rebuilding communities and supporting those affected.
He called on first respondant agencies like NEMA, humanitarian organisations, and the federal government to intensify relief efforts and ensure the swift rehabilitation of affected areas.
Senator Sani Bello remains steadfast in his commitment to advocating for disaster preparedness, enhanced infrastructural resilience, and long-term support for communities vulnerable to natural calamities.
Senator Sani Bello concluded by offering prayers for the souls of the departed and strength and courage to those directly impacted by the disaster.
