President Bola Tinubu appointed Sunday Dare as his Special Adviser on Public Communication and Orientation.
Dare will be operating from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
The announcement came on Wednesday, the same day President Tinubu dismissed five ministers and reassigned ten others to new portfolios.
Additionally, seven new ministerial nominees were selected for Senate confirmation.
Dare previously served as Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports from 2019 to 2023 under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Prior to his ministerial role, Dare was appointed by Buhari as an Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in 2016.
He also held the position of Chief of Staff and Special Adviser on Media to Tinubu during his tenure as the Governor of Lagos State.
In a related development, President Tinubu appointed Shehu Dikko as Chairman of the National Sports Commission.
This appointment follows the President’s decision to dissolve the Ministry of Sports Development, transferring its responsibilities to the National Sports Commission in a bid to develop a vibrant sports economy.
