The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has rescheduled its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, originally slated for October 24, 2024, to November 28, 2024.

This decision was made during a consultative meeting held on Tuesday at the Bauchi State Governors’ Lodge, Tatari Ali House, Asokoro.

The meeting was attended by key party stakeholders, including the PDP Governors’ Forum, its Board of Trustees, the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Assembly leadership of the PDP caucus, and the Forum of Former Governors of the party.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, Senator Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, explained that the postponement was necessary to ensure the party enters the upcoming Ondo gubernatorial election on November 16, 2024, united and strong.

The party aims to “unseat the floundering All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the state.”

The communiqué also emphasized the need for unity within the party, urging members to avoid divisive statements.

“Reiterating the need for unity in the face of efforts by detractors to divide the party, the meeting called on all members to shun divisive utterances that could undermine ongoing efforts at strengthening the party to effectively play its role as the country’s main opposition, preparatory to taking over in 2027,” the statement read.

The meeting comes amid an ongoing internal crisis within the PDP, with calls for reconciliation and peace among members.
