The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) announced on Thursday, the deployment of 1,500 personnel to support the smooth conduct of the upcoming Ondo State governorship election on November 16, 2024.

This initiative, approved by Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, is part of a coordinated effort with other security agencies to enforce vehicular movement restrictions on election day.

According to a statement by Assistant Corps Marshal and Public Education Officer Olusegun Ogungbemide, the FRSC will deploy 25 patrol vehicles, seven tow trucks, and six ambulances to manage traffic, clear road obstructions, and respond to emergencies during the election.

Corps Marshal Mohammed urged officers to maintain the highest levels of professionalism and to respect voters rights, emphasizing the importance of upholding democratic freedoms and ensuring a peaceful election process.

“As part of preparations for the Ondo State gubernatorial election on November 16, 2024, the FRSC has approved the deployment of 1,500 operatives to work closely with other security agencies in enforcing vehicular movement restrictions,” the statement read.

The FRSC encouraged the public to comply with the movement restrictions and cooperate with officers to facilitate a secure and orderly election.
