The National Examinations Council (NECO) has expanded its global reach by accrediting additional foreign schools to conduct the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The newly accredited institutions are located in Niger Republic and Equatorial Guinea, joining the ranks of existing international centers.

In a statement released on Saturday, NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, explained that the accreditation team had visited these schools to evaluate their readiness to administer the examinations.

“The Accreditation Team inspected classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer labs, workshops, examination halls, and sports facilities to assess their adequacy and suitability for NECO Examinations,” Sani said. “After a thorough evaluation, the schools were granted full SSCE and BECE accreditation status.”

This expansion of accredited foreign schools underscores NECO’s commitment to offering quality educational assessments beyond Nigeria’s borders. The statement further noted that with its growing global presence, NECO aims to become a leading examination body in Africa, providing opportunities for students worldwide to benefit from its expertise and contribute to educational advancement in Africa and beyond.

In related news, candidates are currently participating in the ongoing NECO SSCE External in Diffa, Niger Republic. The UNHCR School in Diffa is the first NECO SSCE External Centre outside Nigeria.

NECO examinations are now conducted for candidates in countries such as Benin Republic, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger Republic, Equatorial Guinea, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
