The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended a businessman, identified as a returning “I Just Got Back” individual, for attempting to smuggle cocaine into the country.
Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, shared details of the arrest, including video evidence of the seized drugs, on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.
According to Babafemi, the suspect, who had recently returned from an overseas trip, attracted attention due to his visibly nervous behavior. Upon conducting a routine screening, NDLEA officers discovered wraps of cocaine concealed on his body, which reportedly began to drop during the search.
In a statement shared on the social media platform, Babafemi wrote:
“Narco-trend update: The moment #ndlea_nigeria officers intercepted an ‘I Just Got Back’ businessman, screened him, and wraps of cocaine began to ‘rain’ from his body. Who will tell them that NDLEA will always get them no matter the mode of concealment?”
The NDLEA continues to reaffirm its commitment to combating drug trafficking in Nigeria.
