The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has intercepted a large stash of banned, fake and unregistered cosmetic products in Lagos State, with an estimated value exceeding ₦3 billion.

The discovery was made during routine enforcement operations at an uncompleted building within the APT Trade Fair Complex in Ojo Local Council, where agents found a warehouse stocked with prohibited items.

According to a statement shared on the agency’s X account, the haul included 728 cartons of Crusader soap, 718 cartons of E45 soap, and Extract Gold whitening soaps, all of which are “products banned by the Federal Government.”

The statement added:
“Additional items, such as assorted perfumes, body oils, and cooking oils, were also found and placed on hold for further regulatory assessment. All seized products have been evacuated to prevent distribution.”

NAFDAC also invited the warehouse manager for questioning as part of its ongoing investigation.

The agency warned that the “sale and use of such products pose serious health risks to consumers” and urged the public to remain alert and report suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.

This latest operation underscores NAFDAC’s intensified efforts to clamp down on the proliferation of counterfeit and potentially harmful cosmetic products in Nigeria’s markets.
