Manchester City reduced the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal to six points with a commanding 3-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, scoring all three goals in a dominant second-half display.
Managed by Pep Guardiola, City capitalised on Arsenal’s shock home defeat to Bournemouth, keeping their title ambitions firmly on track with a game still in hand. After a relatively quiet first half, the visitors returned from the break with renewed purpose and attacking intensity.
The breakthrough arrived in the 51st minute when Rayan Cherki delivered a pinpoint cross to Nico O’Reilly, who rose to power a header beyond goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. Cherki was again instrumental six minutes later, threading a precise pass to former Chelsea defender Marc Guehi, who calmly slotted the ball into the far corner.
Chelsea’s difficulties deepened when Moises Caicedo was dispossessed in his own half, allowing Jeremy Doku to drive forward and finish confidently to seal the emphatic win.
The hosts had earlier shown flashes of promise, with Marc Cucurella finding the net only for the effort to be ruled out for offside, while Pedro Neto was denied by Gianluigi Donnarumma. However, the Blues were unable to mount a comeback, slipping to a third consecutive league defeat.
The result underscores City’s growing momentum in the title race, while Chelsea’s struggles continue under manager Liam Rosenior.
